TRUST AND JUSTICE IN VIRTUAL AND MOBILE WORK – DISTINCTIVENESS AND DIMENSIONS
Marko Hakonen, Researcher, Helsinki University of Technology, Finland

Abstract
This paper presents two studies which aim at disentangling distinctiveness and dimensions of two complex and closely related constructs, namely trust and justice in the context of virtual and mobile work teams. The scholars studying trust and justice often disagree on what are the dimensions of these two concepts and how they are interrelated. Moreover, since trust and especially justice have been understudied in virtual and mobile settings it is important to find out do the dimensions and distinctions found in co-located settings apply to this new organizational mode. The results of both the quantitative survey study and the qualitative case study point out in same direction. In both studies the constructs of trust, distrust, procedural justice, and interactional justice were distinguishable.
Keywords: trust, justice, dimensions, virtual and mobile work
