ImageProf. Ingmar Björkman: ”HRM across Cultures and Economies: Western Multinational Corporations in China”

Ingmar Björkman is a professor of management and organization at the Swedish School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland, and he is also affiliated with the INSEAD Euro-Asia and Comparative Research Center. He received his PhD at the Swedish School of Economics. He has held visiting professor positions at Hong Kong University, ESSEC, and INSEAD. Professor Björkman’s research interests focus on international human resource management, knowledge creation and transfer in multinational corporations, and integration of international mergers & acquisitions. Much of his work has been on Western companies’ operations in the People’s Republic of China but he has also published several articles on Russia. His latest book is Handbook of Research in International Resource Management (Edward Elgar Publishing, 2006), co-edited with Günter Stahl (INSEAD). He is currently working with Paul Evans (INSEAD) and Vlado Pucik (IMD) on Global Challenge: International Human Resource Management (to be published by McGraw-Hill). He is a regular contributor to international academic journals.

ImageProf. Pervez N. Ghauri: “Globalization, Multinational Enterprises and Corporate Social Responsibility” 

Pervez N. Ghauri is a professor of International Business at the King's College London, UK. He completed his PhD at the Department of Business Studies, Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. He was also awarded an Honorary Doctor of Economics degree by Turku School of Economics, Finland in 2005. He taught at Uppsala University, Sweden, the Norwegian School of Management, Oslo, Norway, and at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Pervez Ghauri was professor of Marketing at the Faculty of Management and Organization, University of Groningen, The Netherlands. He serves as consultant for the International Trade Centre (ITC/UNCTAD) in Geneva, Airbus Industries in France, Ericsson, Sweden, Norwegian Export Council in Norway, the Foreign Investment Agency at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Netherlands and Thomas, Shook & Bacon, UK. Pervez Ghauri has published 22 books and more than 50 journal articles on international business and international marketing topics. He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of International Business Review since 1992 and editor of the International Business and Management book series by Elsevier Science.

ImageProf. Jaap Paauwe: “HRM and Performance in an International Context”

Jaap Paauwe (PhD Erasmus University Rotterdam) is professor of Human Resource Studies at Tilburg University. Before joining Tilburg in 2005 he worked as a full professor of Organization at Erasmus University Rotterdam, heading the Department of Business and Organization of the School of Economics. In 1991 he was Academic Visitor at the London School of Economics, and in 1996 he was Visiting Professor at Templeton College, Oxford University (UK). In 2005 he joined Cornell University (Ithaca, USA) as a visiting fellow. Before joining the university he worked for the trade union movement (Head of CNV Research Department 1983-1988) and a Dutch based multinational company (SHV 1980-1983). His main research interests are in the area of HRM, corporate strategy, organizational change and industrial relations. He has written and co-authored books on human resource management and many articles. His latest book is on HRM and Performance: achieving long term viability (Oxford University Press, June 2004), for which he received the Dutch HRM network Award in 2005. Together with Cambridge, INSEAD and Cornell University he is involved in a large scale international research project on improving the excellence of the HR function within multinational companies.
